Milestone for opticians

Posted onPosted on 8th Dec

Mansfield opticians Pinders celebrated its 70th anniversary by inviting loyal customers for tea and cake to thank them.

The event at the Queen Street practice was attended by Mrs Mary Penford, who has been visiting the practice for 62 years, as well as 45 other loyal patients. Mrs Jean Bonsall, the longest-serving patient of 68 years, was unable to attend.

The practice team baked the cakes and displayed old photographs, while playing nostalgic 1940s music.

Pinders was founded by Richard Claude Pinder in 1946 on Queen Street, with the company being taken over in 1991 by his son, James Pinder.

The practice is now owned by Geoff Rybicki, who has been examining patients’ eyes for 41 years.

He said: “We would like to thank everyone who came along to our 70th anniversary event and James for cutting the anniversary cake.”

James said: “I am very proud of the team at Pinders and thoroughly enjoyed the whole event, from the window display to the memorabilia and, of course, the cake.”
