Launch for Space shop that helps young people with learning disabilities

Posted onPosted on 19th May

Social enterprise Space Inclusive, a project that began in Mansfield Woodhouse and supports young adults with learning disabilities and autism, is officially opening its latest venture on Monday.

The Spacecraft shop, based on Hucknall Road, Nottingham, will be selling handmade items from upcycled bicycles and furniture to on-trend planters.

Stella Dowbenko, Spacecraft’s manager, said: “We have lots of people who use our service and who enjoy making things and being creative.

“The shop offers people a great opportunity to make good quality items and the chance to work in a retail environment; serving customers, processing payments and keeping the stock replenished.

“The people of Sherwood and Carrington have already started to show an interest in what we’ll be doing and we know there is great support for local independent businesses in the area, so we hope that people pop in and say hello and see what we have to offer.”

Space Craft will officially open at 10am on Monday, 22nd May, and will be offering free coffee and cake to anyone that makes a purchase on its opening day.

All profits from the business will be used for the benefit of the people that make the items and work in the shop.
