Finalist in national Energy Efficiency Awards

Ashfield District Council has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Landlord of the Year category of the Energy Efficiency Awards.

The national awards recognise those organisations that are implementing energy-efficiency measures to their housing stock, helping tenants and residents reduce their energy bills, tackling fuel poverty and reducing carbon emissions.

Working in partnership with J Tomlinson, the council has carried out energy improvement works to nearly 2,000 homes across the district. This has included external wall insulation to non-traditional properties, the installation of solar panels, window replacement and central heating replacement.

Paul Parkinson, director of Housing and Assets at the council, said: “At a time of rising utility costs and other household essentials being short listed for this national award shows the commitment Ashfield District Council has to improving energy efficiency, not just to our housing stock but for all residents of the district. We work with householders to address the issues of fuel poverty and affordable warmth, providing advice and information.”

The awards ceremony will take place on 29th September in Birmingham.
