Could you be a volunteer for Crimestoppers?

Independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers is appealing for enthusiastic members of the public to join its volunteer committee in Nottinghamshire and support the fight against crime.

In Nottinghamshire alone, 3,173 pieces of actionable information were received by Crimestoppers in the year 2016/17, a 21% increase on the previous financial year.

As well as committee members, the charity is also looking for a chairman.

East Midlands regional manager, Lydia Patsalides, said: “Volunteering for Crimestoppers is a great way to make a difference and I’m really looking forward to growing our team to make Nottinghamshire a safer place to live and work.

“You can dedicate as much or as little time as you like — every little helps and your efforts will be rewarded with the satisfaction that you are playing a part in keeping your community safe.

“Roles could be anything from representing Crimestoppers at major events, visiting schools and business organisations, talking about Crimestoppers, or just placing posters and information cards throughout your community.

“Any help would be greatly appreciated. You really could make a difference.”

Crimestoppers helps the police to solve crimes, making communities safer, by operating the anonymous 24/7 telephone number 0800 555 111, which people can ring to pass on information about crimes. They can also use its anonymous ‘giving information’ form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

Around 14 people are arrested and charged every day as a result of information given to Crimestoppers.
