Solicitors strike gold for work with young people

Fidler & Pepper Solicitors in Mansfield and Ashfield have been granted a gold award for its commitment to helping young people on to the career ladder.

The firm has received the Gold Talent Match Mark, an award that recognises and celebrates outstanding employers who support young people in their journey to work.

Mark Slade, the firm’s managing partner, said: “We have for many years been committed to offering apprenticeships and providing opportunities for young people to learn and earn.

“They get invaluable experience in a supportive environment, while continuing to gain qualifications, and we are able to guide them in our ways of working.”

Joanne Godson, the firm’s people and operations manager, explained: “Recruiting and developing young people works well for us as a business as it provides us with the opportunity to develop our employees with the skills needed to support our strategy for growth.”

Talent Match Mark, backed by small and large businesses, and universities, across the UK, has been set up by Youth Employment UK, a leading campaigning and membership organisation dedicated to tackling youth unemployment in the UK.

One of Fidler & Pepper’s apprentices, Sophie Wise, who has been shortlisted for awards, and believes the firm’s approach to helping young people has been key to it’s success.

She said: “My apprenticeship has allowed me to earn money while working towards a recognised qualification.”
