The search is on for six Nottinghamshire-based companies who want to increase their web presence in order to build their business.

The Digital Enhancement Programme is an innovative six-month programme funded by Nottinghamshire County Council and delivered by Mansfield-based digital growth specialist dijitul.

This programme will provide each of the six companies with a bespoke digital strategy and a trainee, who will be placed in their business and will carry out the strategy.

Dave Hartshorne, digital strategist and co-founder at dijitul, said: “Having an online presence is a vital requirement within many businesses, some of which do not have the resources to implement this or have little knowledge about the digital world.

“This programme is the first of its kind and is a fantastic opportunity for businesses that want to grow and have the ambition to succeed.”

Any kind of business can apply, as long as they can provide the work placement and supervision for a trainee for a maximum of three days a week.

Applicants will be assessed to ensure that the business has the potential to grow through an enhanced online presence.

The young person, who will be aged 16 or over, will undergo a six-month traineeship involving a training programme tailored to each business, supported by intense digital training via a series of workshops and one-to-ones in the workplace.

They will be paid a training bursary through the project, and undergo a full induction and preparatory training.

Employers will be asked to make a contribution of up to £500 over the six-month placement, host the trainee placement for the duration of the programme and look at the potential to create an apprenticeship position after the programme is completed.

Dave added: “A digital strategy will help increase a company’s visible presence in the marketplace and is most successful when it is tailored to an individual business’s needs and potential.

“It also makes sense to have an additional member of staff for up to six months to carry out the digital enhancements. This is a really exciting project to be involved with and we’re certainly looking forward to hearing from companies.”
