Business’s support for Armed Forces community

Posted onPosted on 15th Feb

A small business in Kirkby has pledged its support to the Armed Forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

County Battery Services Ltd, based on Field Industrial Estate, employs one veteran and decided to show its support to the wider Defence community because it understands the benefits military training can bring to the civilian workplace.

Graham Joules-Good, warehouse manager, joined the business after serving as a full-time member of the Royal Air Force.

“I specialised in logistics during my RAF career, which provided me with a vast amount of transferable skills,” he said.

Managing director Richard Fuller said: “The qualities Graham learnt through his military career were perfect for us. We needed someone to come into the warehouse and hit the ground running, organising our stock and ensure all orders were dealt with in a timely manner. I would recommend other employers to look favourably upon the skills of military service leavers.”

County Battery achieved a Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze award in December 2016, and are hoping to gain further recognition for their continuing support to employees who are members of the Armed Forces community.

County Battery is showing support to serving Armed Forces Personnel and veterans by offering a discount on its products at stores in Kirkby, Nuthall and Ilkeston or when shopping online with discount code: CB10.
