Brunts celebrate students’ success

More than 300 students were celebrated at The Brunts Academy’s annual celebration of achievement evenings.

The academy, lead academy of The Evolve Trust, held their celebrations at Mansfield Palace Theatre, where students received awards for academic, extra-curricular and pastoral achievements and efforts over the past year.

Nine students were also presented with special awards — Directors’ Integrity (sponsored by The Evolve Trust), Janice Addison Award (former chief executive and executive principal) for outstanding effort and progress, and the Headteacher’s Award for outstanding achievement.
The audience over the two evenings were treated to 14 acts that showcased

the talents of the music, dance and performing arts faculties.

Acts included solos of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables and Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights, and the award-winning swing and concert bands.

The awards evenings were sponsored and supported by businesses, including Dalmatian (organisation support), Crystal Knitwear (technology sponsor), Mansfield Town Football In The Community (PE sponsor), Hays (humanities sponsor), Ransom Wood (science sponsor), Remarkable.net (ICT sponsor), Teachers UK (English sponsor), The Evolve Trust (sponsor of the Directors’ Award for Integrity and organisation support) and TIS (maths sponsor).

The awards were presented by Malcolm Hall, of Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies; Richard Fuller, of County Battery Services; Nathan Dijsktra, of Laing O’Rourke; and Philippa Smith and Yos Iwanczuk, of Hays Education.

Headteacher Carl Atkin said: “Brunts is extremely proud of its students. Events like these happen because we strongly believe it is important to recognise and celebrate the successes of our students.
“Brunts is very lucky to have such a talented and diverse range of students on its roll and our successes are testament to the hard work of our staff and our students’ achievement.”
